Day 7 - Mount Selinda Celebrations

Sunday, July 28, 2024

The delegation (minus Shaun, Sarah, and Steph) had an amazing opportunity to witness several events at Mt. Selinda the weekend they were there: Commissioning of the Daisy Dube Home Kitchen and Mt. Selinda Parsonage, by our Church President Rev John Matiza as well as the Commissioning/Installation of Rev. Innocent Machoba of Mt. Selinda Church for the first term.

Later that afternoon, the delegation hiked over a mile into the African jungle to see “The Big Tree.” Legend has it the group of missionaries decided to start a mission here at the big tree long ago.

The delegation then had dinner prepared by cooking students at the high school. After dinner, several students performed for us: a boys’ group, students who performed spoken word, and the co-ed choir, followed by the Chaplain Rev. Fungai Mutsumbei, Rev. S. Mhlanga, Rev. Sara Marean, and Rev. David Keller with some words about Ukama. It was a inspiting night and we were so impressed with both the staff and students at Mt. Selinda.
